Today you will be tested. There will be a moment when you will be asked to say what is true and what is good and you may be tempted to waver. You may be tempted to make yourself look a little better in the outcome. You may be tempted to sidestep truthfulness for a slightly sweeter profile.
Proverbs 24: If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?
Hold fast.
The pain of being known means we will all look much worse and yet more glorious if we allow ourselves to be truly seen. Our characters are not made finer by evasion or self-protection. It is in being known that we let the Holy Spirit do her deepest work.
Today, make every effort to support the weak. To speak up for integrity. To confront the bullies.
Phil 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
We will each answer to God in the future, but for now, let us answer to each other. Let us be prepared to fight for the oppressed and the abused. Let us applaud courage and hold up those who are faltering, even when it slows us down. Let us be sure that we will stand up for righteousness.
