Dear Incarnation,
There is no time that I am more thankful and humbled to be a priest than Holy Week. I loved every service, every time of prayer, every quiet moment of preparation. It was a gift to walk through the week with you and to carry each other's burdens together to the cross.
And then I loved its culmination in another beautiful Easter! The bells, the alleluias, the flower procession, the baptisms, the MUSIC!, the potluck, and so much more — what a joy to celebrate the resurrection together! Alleluia!
Now we enter the season of Eastertide. We will be preaching through the book of 1 John throughout this season, and I'm really looking forward to it. In his gospel, John refers to himself as "the disciple Jesus loved" (may we all do the same!) and that sense of belovedness overflows in his letter. This is such a rich book, and its themes of love, discernment, and faithfulness feel especially relevant for followers of Jesus in an election year.
Finally, I'm slowly working on compiling all the notes, images, post-its, emails, and other responses from our Lenten discernment. Thank you for praying and listening — and if you have anything you'd like to share, please send it along! I look forward to sharing all of this with you in the coming weeks.
I will leave you with an Incarnation staff tradition; we send this video around every Easter. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. May our lives sing "he is risen" with the incredible gusto of this soloist, no matter how high the flames climb!
With Easter joy,
Amy
